20 Pictures to Inspire You to Travel with Kids

There’re different opinions about traveling with the kids. For some it’s the worse travel experience possible. Others regard it as the best opportunity to spend time together as a family. And yet, some people believe that even though travel with the kids can be challenging, it’s manageable. And I can’t not agree with them.

Travel with the kids has its own struggles. Yes, you need to pack more. Books, puzzles, or your child’s favorite toys are a must to keep your little one entertained on bus or airplane. There’s no way to skip breakfast or lunch when traveling with the kids. You might be ok sacrificing your meal and instead using that time to go sightseeing. But your young travel companion doesn’t think so. Moreover, you always have to thinks two steps ahead and carry some snacks at all times. And don’t let me starting on recalling those days when your child skips his or her nap. It’s the worse thing ever.

Traveling with Children isn’t Difficult

But once you master all the above, travel with the kids is not as difficult as it might seem in the beginning. One thing, however, is certain, having your youngsters with your on your trip slows you down tremendously. In the best case, you can count on seeing only one third of places you would visit when traveling alone or with your spouse.

On the other hands, when you travel with the kids, you learn to appreciate a new place and see things you otherwise would never notice. I learned this valuable lesson when my son, Dylan, and I visited Kiev. It was the first time I traveled with him by myself. I didn’t really know what to expect and thus didn’t prepare a long itinerary.

It was my first time in Kiev. I figured Old Town would be an ideal place to start our journey and then see how it’d go. As it turned out we spent the whole day just visiting a few places in this area of Kiev. At first I felt uneasy and tried to hurry Dylan who had to pick up every rock he found on the road. Then this little boy needed to chase birds and simply run around.

After an hour or so, I gave up and decided to adjust to my son’s travel pace rather than impose mine on him. Suddenly, I wasn’t worrying about all the places I didn’t have time to see. I took Dylan’s hand and we strolled side by side, slowly discovering the new city.
